Managing Editor, American Theatre magazine, September 2004–present
American Theatre is the national magazine for the nonprofit regional theatre; publishes 10 issues a year; has a circulation of about 25,000.
- report directly to editor in chief and publisher
- manage editorial staff of 6, art staff of 2 and advertising staff of 2 in all aspects of planning and production for monthly magazine
- hire and work with freelance writing staff; edit all content
- write news and short feature content for each issue; several long features each year
- maintain short-term and long-term editorial and production calendars; manage deadlines
- lead weekly editorial and photo meetings; contribute to monthly long-range planning meetings with executive director and publisher
- work with art director and editor in chief to determine maquette and approve all art for magazine

- supervise all magazine content on the web; assist in planning site redesign
- administer a grant program which awards a stipend to three early-career arts writers each year
